Mobility is more than just infrastructure —it’s about experience, access, and connection. At Steer, we believe that great design reshapes how people interact with spaces, services, and transportation networks. Our Design for Movement (DfM) practice is at the forefront of this philosophy, bringing human-centered, innovative solutions that enhance the user experience, make services more seamless, and navigation more intuitive.

What is Design for Movement?
Design for Movement is our interdisciplinary approach that blends design, planning, policy, technology, and behavioral insights to deliver comprehensive design programs that work for everyone. It’s about designing wayfinding systems that help people navigate complex spaces, enabling information services that improve access to transportation, and crafting visual information that makes data actionable and easy to understand.
Why It Matters
Addressing mobility challenges requires more than infrastructure solutions—they demand a human-centered approach. Clear wayfinding, well-designed transit information, and intuitive navigation tools can significantly impact how people move, whether in a city, a national park, a museum, or a major transit hub.
Through Design for Movement, we create systems and delivery tools that, through an enhanced user experience, help break access barriers to transit and make active travel more appealing. By designing with people in mind, we help cities and organizations transform complexity into clarity, ensuring that movement is not just possible but enjoyable and efficient.
