Joel has spent his career designing, modelling and delivering urban highway schemes across the UK, with a focus on the North of England. Joel specialises in active travel design, helping clients get the most benefit for walking, cycling and wheeling from constrained urban highways. Joel brings his holistic understanding of traffic signal design, modelling and engineering to scheme development creating ambitious yet workable solutions.
- Joel’s work in Leeds helped develop early segregated cycle infrastructure in the city, delivering over 2.5km of cycle track and 12 signalised junctions, pushing design ambition and contributing to the formation of best practice and cycle design guidance.
- Working with Newcastle City Council, Joel delivered emergency active travel measures during Covid lockdowns on a 1km High Street, changes which have been permanently implemented due to the improved walking and cycling environment created.
Joel supports and leads projects to identify and develop sustainable transport solutions, and supports development of our in the North of England.
