Steer to support UK Future Transport Forum 2025

Steer will be supporting the Future Transport Forum 2025 later this month in Southampton.

Steer will be supporting the Future Transport Forum 2025 later this month in Southampton, with two of our talented Steer colleagues speaking from the stage.

The forum, to take place January 22-23, will showcase the innovative transit projects underway in the Future Transport Zones (FTZs) in the coastal region of the Solent, the West Midlands, the West of England Combined Authority, and parts of the East Midlands.

Since 2020, £90 million has been spent on FTZs, allowing experts to trial transit solutions such as apps to support mobility as a service (MaaS), dynamic demand responsive transit (DDRT) and mobility credits.

Steer Associate Fiona Jenkins will be delivering a talk titled Exploring the challenges and opportunities for freight from a local authority viewpoint, as part of the panel Packaging up the environment: Can logistics be sustainable?’

Meanwhile, Steer Director Matt Clark will chair the panel Micromobility – transforming urban mobility

The need to decarbonise transport, reduce congestion and boost productivity, create safer and more accessible streets and make transport networks more efficient is ever pressing. Bringing together professionals from across the industry, the Future Transport Forum is a key event for understanding mobility in changing times.

Our sponsorship follows on from Steer’s successful role in the Local Transport Summit 2024 in Bedford that highlighted related themes of economic growth, housing and development and integrated transit. The Future Transport Summit will build on this discussion at a key time for our industry.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to understand developments in shared micromobility that are reshaping our cities and big towns through the Future Transport Zones and are providing real opportunities to change the way we travel in the future,” says Matt Clark.

“Freight plays a key role in the UK economy, particularly in an era of e-commerce and next-day-deliveries,” says Fiona Jenkins.

“Understanding how to decarbonise freight and what role local authorities will play in this is essential to not only our Net Zero future, but also happier and healthier communities.”

For more information or to arrange to meet with us at the Future Transport Forum, please contact Matt Clark or Fiona Jenkins.
