Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU)

A transportation demand management plan for Mount Saint Mary's University

Between March 2014 and March 2015, Steer developed a comprehensive three-year transportation plan for Mount Saint Mary’s University’s two Los Angeles campuses to address parking issues and increase mobility for students, faculty, and staff.

How we helped

In September of 2015, Steer was contracted to develop a TDM Implementation Plan and branding for the TDM portion of the previous plan. Steer developed a new brand identity for MSMU’s transportation services, called The Mount in Motion, to serve as a unified resource for students, faculty and staff to access information on their travel options. Along with existing services, such as the University’s shuttle and transit pass programs, The Mount in Motion encompasses its new Zimride carpool-matching portal.

Along with the new brand and a variety of print and digital collateral materials, Steer created a marketing action plan and social media guide for the University to use when promoting these options on-site.

Successes and outcomes

In Fall of 2017, Steer worked with MSMU to deliver an update to the 2014 transportation plan. Our team reviewed MSMU’s implementation of recommendations from the past plan, and worked with university officials to set new goals for the next three years. Strategies focused on reducing drive alone trips to the MSMU Chalon Campus and accommodating student, faculty and staff access to campus during the construction of a new Wellness Center during which parking supply on campus will be greatly limited.
