The new Silk Route, or “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI), is a major policy initiative developed by China to improve connectivity between Asia and Europe. The BRI refers to six major land corridors across the Eurasian continent and a network of maritime trade routes connecting Asia with Africa and Europe. However, no official or generally accepted definition of the BRI exists.

In order to improve the public transport offer for the 21 million people living in São Paulo metropolitan region, the state government formed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) that will build, operate and maintain Line 6 of the city’s underground network. When completed, the line will be a 16km long, high capacity metro with 15 new stations.

Under a Passenger Rail Program Management contract led by WSP for Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Steer has been producing passenger rail ridership and revenue forecasts on the Chicago to St. Louis corridor for the Tier 1 National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document that IDOT submitted to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) for passenger rail service improvements in the corridor.

Steer is part of a consulting team that is developing the 2018 State Rail Plan.

Steer recently led the comprehensive review of passenger rail infrastructure in California. Our team compiled and analyzed diverse information from across the state into a coherent resource for the next stage of the state rail planning process.

Our project team is providing commercial, economic, and rail operations capabilities to the California High-Speed Rail Authority.

Steer developed preliminary demand and revenue forecasts for the A10/Champlain and West Island corridors.

Following an incident on an international high-speed train in August 2015, in which four passengers were injured, the European Commission was tasked with examining the impact of initiatives for improving rail transport security.

Crossrail is Europe’s largest transport project, delivering a new 21km underground urban railway and connections to the existing UK national rail network, increasing capacity of London’s transport network by 10% along with transforming the city-region’s connectivity.
