After successfully working on the Directive in 2013, Steer was appointed in January 2017 to lead this highly political and complex pan-European study.

During 2013-2014, Steer analysed the liability regimes and the legal requirements for third-party liability insurance existing today in Europe, as well as current industry practices and the insurance market itself, and made recommendations to the European Commission.

To assess the economic footprint of Southampton Airport, our team estimated the four core channels through which economic impacts may be generated. These are direct, indirect and induced economic impacts, as well as the wider potential (known as the catalytic impact) for Southampton Airport to support the local, regional and national economy.

Our primary role was the development of an extensive suite of 40 year annual and secondary air traffic forecasts (passengers, movements, cargo), along with an analysis of the passenger and airline market at Santiago.

We acted as traffic, commercial and technical advisor to the client, providing an extensive suite of vendor due diligence materials that were made available to bidders.

Our client bid for the 28-year concession to finance, redevelop and operate the two main airports in Madagascar at Antananarivo (capital city) and Nosy Be (its main tourist destination).

For this project, we acted as traffic, commercial and technical advisor to the client throughout the transaction.

With the support of a Tokyo-based partner, we worked closely with the client over a nine-month period, supporting their initial ‘1st screening’ proposal and then their final/’2nd screening’ proposal to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Transport and Infrastructure (‘MLIT’).
