TEN-T Days 2016, innovative infrastructure for smart and sustainable mobility

This week, Rotterdam will host the TEN-T Days 2016.

By Steer

This week, Rotterdam will host the TEN-T Days 2016. The event will bring together all stakeholders playing a key role in delivering the efficient transport network that Europe needs: EU Ministers, Members of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the TEN-T Coordinators, the European Investment Bank, Ministers from Europe’s neighbouring countries and the whole TEN-T stakeholders community including project promoters and private investors.

Participants will have the opportunity to collectively address the major challenges of boosting investments in transport, at a time when the structure and priorities of the EU budget are about to be re-examined. They will also be able to discuss the development of the trans-European transport network, with a special focus on the Core Network Corridors, ERTMS and Motorways of the Sea.

A dedicated section during the event will target clean fuels for transport, with key speakers across the EU discussing state of the art and ongoing actions concerning the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure on the TEN-T corridors. A panel of Member States representatives will be discussing progress on the implementation of Directive 2014/94/EU on the deployment of alternative fuel infrastructure and might unveil some of the contents of the national development plans that each Member State is due to submit to the European Commission by November 2016.

Jon Peters, Associate of Steer Davies Gleave, will also contribute to the event showcasing the emerging findings of a study undertaken for the European Commission aimed at investigating possible solutions that could support the development of alternative fuel infrastructure along EU road corridors. Jon will be discussing – along with experts from the European Commission and European Investment Bank – financial instruments that could help mitigating the existing financial barriers (amongst other barriers such as technical, regulatory, etc) that currently limit investment in this area.

He will deliver a presentation and participate as a panel member in the following two sessions on Wednesday 22nd June:

  • 11:15 –12:00 – Developing an alternative fuels infrastructure on the TEN-T Network.
  • 12:00 -12:50- Streaming finance towards alternative fuels deployment on the Corridors.

The event will take place on 20-22 June 2016 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and can also be followed live through this website. Further information can be found here.
