By Steer

Steer Davies Gleave is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Dickinson who joins us as an Associate within our new economic development business.

Scott is an economist by training and brings over 25 years’ experience of designing, appraising, delivering, and evaluating public policies, programmes, and projects. Prior to joining Steer Davies Gleave, he ran his own consultancy specialising in sustainable economic, social, cultural and environmental development.

He began his economic development career in local government. He was Head of European Funding at Birmingham City Council and External Funding and Partnerships Manager at West London Training & Enterprise Council. He spent five years at the Audit Commission for England and Wales, where he led national value-for-money studies, including studies of people, places and prosperity, and neighbourhood renewal and he was a Senior Fellow in Organisational Development at the Office for Public Management before becoming an Associate Director at economic development consultants SQW.

Scott is committed to deepening understanding of the dynamics of places, sectors and markets– and the interactions between them– and to supporting the development and maintenance of effective governance arrangements. He has led major studies of neighbourhood governance and participatory budgeting for the Department for Communities and Local Government, and developed sub-regional development frameworks for a number of sub-regional partnerships. He is also the co-author of IPPR’s recent ‘Brexit North’ paper, which sets out Brexit-related risks and opportunities for the North of England.

Simon Pringle, Director at Steer Davies Gleave said, “I am delighted to welcome Scott to the team. He brings a wealth of experience, perspective, and understanding of what makes effective economic development. I look forward to working with him as we build our team, and work with clients to navigate the new economic landscape”.
